Multiple OS
Find out which Operating Systems you can actually run on your server.
An Operating System is the low-level software that controls a computer system. It controls how the hardware operates, the communication with peripheral devices for instance a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, plus the prioritization of applications in case several run concurrently. Each program that is installed on a desktop or a notebook operates by sending requests to the OS for different services by using an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be achieved via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the Operating System is what commands a web server and all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. When there're virtual machines created, they use a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers
If you choose one of our
VPS server packages, you will have three different Operating Systems to pick from - CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu. They are all Linux distributions and we offer them rather than offering just a single OS, because the apps that you may want to run on the server could have specific requirements about the software environment. Each one of these three has certain pros with regard to the available plans that you could later install, but what's common between them is the fact that they are very stable and reliable and have huge communities which support them. The web hosting Control Panel alternatives for the VPS accounts depend on your Operating System choice, in order to give you more flexibility. When you order the virtual server with one OS and you need another one later, our technical support team can easily reinstall the VPS with the new one in a couple of minutes. We also offer the option to keep the Operating System on your server up-to-date weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The
dedicated server plans that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license fees, but they are also regarded as the most dependable and secure OSs. We provide three different ones as each one of them is backed by a different community. The packages that you can add on your server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you will choose. You can select any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order procedure, but if needed, we can always install the server anew with an alternative one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the package whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible.
